Reader-supported and independent. Here is exactly how a mattress ends up on this site — and what we deliberately do not claim.
What makes a mattress eligible?
The manufacturer must state, in its own published material, that the mattress is made, assembled, designed-and-manufactured or produced in Canada.
Canadian ownership, a Canadian warehouse, or Canadian shipping does not qualify a model. If a brand will not state where a mattress is built, we leave it out rather than guess.
Why only one mattress per company?
So the list stays a comparison between manufacturers rather than a catalogue of one brand's line-up.
Each of the six categories is held by a different company. If two models from the same manufacturer would win two categories, the weaker fit is replaced by the next-best mattress from another company.
What information do the rankings use?
Published construction details, firmness descriptions, trial length, warranty terms and production statements from each manufacturer.
We do not run a laboratory, so we do not publish pressure-map data, durability scores or star ratings we did not collect. Where firmness is expressed on a 1-10 scale we describe it as an approximation of the manufacturer's own description.
How does affiliate revenue affect the order?
It does not. Commission rates are not an input to placement, and no brand can pay for inclusion or preview our copy.
Links are labelled as affiliate placements and the disclosure appears on every page. If a partner relationship ever conflicts with a recommendation, the recommendation wins and the relationship ends.
How often is this updated?
We re-check specifications, trial terms and production statements on a rolling basis and stamp every page with the review date.
Prices are not printed on the site because retailer pricing changes frequently; the 'Check current price' link goes to the retailer instead.
